This one is in the Santa Monica mountains up above Mandeville Canyon, which is a funny little road that snakes north from Sunset Boulevard almost all the way through to Encino. There's a couple of trailheads up near the end of Mandeville Canyon, and you can do a loop up to the ridge, around on a weird stretch of Mulholland Drive that's dirt and closed to cars, through an old abandoned Cold War-era nuclear missle detection radar station army base, and back down the other side of the canyon.
